“Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love” (Psalm 6:4)
Have you ever felt too broken, too sinful, or too far gone for God to love you? Like David in Psalm 6, we often find ourselves in dark valleys of our own making. Whether through sin, circumstances, or suffering, we can feel unworthy of approaching God. Our hearts whisper that we deserve punishment, not mercy. That we should handle it alone rather than cry out to Him.
But dear sister, look at David’s prayer: “Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love” (Psalm 6:4). Notice what David didn’t do – he didn’t clean himself up first. He didn’t prove his worth. He didn’t earn God’s attention. He simply cried out, knowing that God’s unfailing love was reason enough for rescue.
This same unfailing love pursues you today. When you deserve indifference, He gives you tenderness. When you deserve justice, He offers mercy. When you deserve a list of failures, He extends grace. His love remains steadfast regardless of your circumstances or choices.
Perhaps you’re sitting in darkness right now, feeling like you’ve drifted beyond God’s reach. Take heart from David’s example – you don’t have to fix yourself first. Simply turn to Him with this prayer: “Return to me, LORD. Rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love.” He will hear you, not because of your worthiness, but because of His unchanging character of mercy and love. Rest assured, dear friend, His unfailing love has never lost sight of you, not even for a moment.
