The Certainty of God
“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:2
Uncertainty is a part of life. It’s not a question of if uncertain times will come, but when. How you respond to the uneasiness of not knowing what’s coming next will determine withstanding uncertainty or succumbing to worry and fear. No one has to accept worry just because the feelings of uneasiness are present. There’s a choice to make and choosing to be overly concerned about an unclear or unsettled situation will lead to a place of trusting yourself more than God. That can cause you to forget the power of God and rob you of the peace Jesus promised (John 16:33).
Many times in the Bible God is likened to a rock. Imagine a large boulder…it’s immovable, unchangeable, solid and often, rocks are used as an anchor or a foundation. Though you may not be confident in the future or what will happen next in life, you can refuse to be shaken by focusing on God, who is your rock. Allow the Almighty, steadfast God who never changes to securely hold you when the waves of uncertainty come crashing in by remembering one thing can be counted on…the certainty of God.
