“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, have never abandoned anyone who searches for you.” Psalm 9:10

Have you ever found yourself whispering, “I trust You, Lord,” while your heart feels anything but settled? Trust can be one of those words we say easily but find difficult to embody. In the midst of life’s uncertainties—a marriage at a crossroads, a child making choices that break our hearts, an unexpected diagnosis, or plans crumbling before our eyes—trust often seems just out of reach.

Yet Psalm 9:10 reveals a profound truth: “Those who know your name trust in you.” This verse is powerful. It does not simply state that those who believe in God trust Him, but rather that those who know His name find themselves able to trust. The writer provides us with a practical pathway to deeper trust—knowing God’s name.

Throughout Scripture, God’s name reveals His character. In Psalm 9, we encounter the term LORD (in all capitals), which translates as Jehovah or Yahweh—the self-existing, never-changing, everlasting, and ever-present God. This is not merely information about God but an invitation to experience Him.

Consider the people you trust most in your life. Isn’t your trust built on knowing them—their character, consistency, and heart? Trust involves relying on another’s integrity and faithfulness. As women of faith, we’re invited to find rest in the attributes of God that His name reveals.

So, how can we truly know His name? Not through casual acquaintance but through intentional seeking. We search for Him in prayer—not just hurried requests but honest conversation. We discover Him in His Word, where each page reveals another facet of His character. We encounter Him through Jesus, who made the invisible God visible. And we pursue a relationship with Him in the everyday moments of life.

The promise tied to this seeking is that God “has never abandoned anyone who searches for Him.” This is an unwavering promise—God does remain with some seekers while leaving others behind. He faithfully stays with everyone who seeks Him, without exception.

This doesn’t mean that challenging seasons won’t come; they will. The valleys are part of every woman’s journey. However, knowing God’s name assures us that we are never alone in those moments. Jehovah—the ever-present One—walks beside us through each dark night and uncertain path.

Today, whatever you’re facing, lean into knowing His name. Speak it. Study it. Rest in it. As you come to know the God who is eternally faithful, unchanging, and present, you’ll find that your trust isn’t something you have to manufacture; it flows naturally from knowing the One who has never, and will never, abandon you.
